After a long day of skiing on the slopes, there is always Après Ski fun, a phrase coined by the French in the 1950s, which translates to “after skiing,” a shared activity where friends gather for round two of fun off the slopes.
Hosted by INNESS, Stockade Faire, Queer Conspiracy, Bjorn Qorn and Hudson Modern guests were invited to bundle up in their grooviest après ski attire and boogie the night away. The event attracted a celebrated crowd who enthusiastically embraced the occasion!
Guests showed up and got down. Partygoers feverishly dressed in their finest vintage and retro ski attire were fiercely ready to sashay on the dance floor like a New York fashion week runway model serving up looks.
Created by Garret Grassi, of Lighthearted Lighting Design, The interior space was just as notable as the fashionable attendees. Party revelers danced under a fully decked-out disco-themed interior with a snow-capped backdrop and white fabric cutouts of jagged ice forms hung from the rafters. Monolithic white speakers by White Rabbit Audio, perched on white tripods hovered above the crowd blasting an array of sonic EDM, house and disco remixes from Eli, Soul Clap, David Kiss, Laura Lynn, Miss Sabado, Sensay Shnay and other assisting DJs. This lineup dropped major heat and took the night by storm, keeping the room warm and the night train runnin’ all night long.
Taking place in the events barn at INNESS in Accord, New York, the Apres Ski Soiree exemplified the perfect backdrop to complete the storyline in the most appropriate setting. Sitting on 220 acres of intimate country land, Innes welcomed guests with a fairytale-like candle-lit walkway over the hill and up to the grounds, equipped with outdoor fire pits, string lights, and a beautiful cedar chalet in the Mohonk Valley to set the tone. There was no room to disappoint.
This lively event was launched back in January of this year by Laura Lynn and Sean B. Nutley. Sean is a man of the town known as the unofficial Mayor of Kingston and acknowledged throughout the Hudson Valley for having a strong network of people proudly weaving arts, culture, and lifestyle into the fabric of Upstate life. Nutley is a partner in Kitchen and Culinary store Blue Cashew Homestead, a real estate agent at Hudson Modern, an events promoter throwing the yearly and legendary Catskills Roller Disco, and his most recent venture Stockade Faire, a Kingston NY block party scene that takes place in the Fall. Stockade Fair is host to live DJs for Climate Action. Local shopkeepers, vendors and restaurants participate in a purpose-driven event, drawing attention to support eminent businesses in the community that comprises the Stockade District of Kingston, New York.
Immersed in the trance of the soul-clap beat that played all night and surrounded by a closely acquainted room full of Hudson Valley legends, it was undoubtedly an evening to remember.
Nothing better than sweating out all your troubles on the dance floor during a long Presidents Day holiday weekend before returning to the work week grind.
Disco Chalet at Inness will surely continue to evolve as a guaranteed banger! Could we see an inaugural event? Only time will tell.
Be sure to look out for Catskill’s Roller Disco and follow @discochalet @stockadefaire @inness @bjornqorn for more upcoming events. A special shout-out goes to BjornQorn, fine purveyors of everyone’s favorite snack, for providing treats for the event.
