Big Pink

Nestled in the hills of Saugerties sits the house where Bob Dylan and The Band recorded their famous Basement Tapes and where The Band wrote their album Music from Big Pink.  The house is now owned by Don and Sue Lasala as one of the world’s most famous short-term rentals, where musicians and artists can exercise their creative muscles and bask in the magic that makes this house an iconic and unforgettable piece of musical history.

For the LaSalas, owning Big Pink and maintaining it as a rental is much more a labor of love than a business venture. Don is deeply aware that the house acts as a muse to so many, appreciating visitor’s stories and he’s always curious about the particular reasons folks make their pilgrimages from afar. If they’re around and have the time, Don and Sue often take time to greet visitors and ask what brings them there. You get the sense that the LaSalas ended up owning Big Pink for the sole purpose of sharing it with others.
