  • And Catskill’s Bridge Street Theatre opens a world premiere two-weekend run of Eric Hissom’s RUDE MECHANICS. And despite the title, it’s NOT about grease monkeys in an upstate NY auto repair shop. Instead, this hysterically funny, slyly anachronistic, and scarily relevant new comedy about the insanity of trying to create theatre in the midst of a plague (sound familiar?) takes place on a snowy January evening in 1612 London. A last-minute illness forces a spear-carrier in Shakespeare’s acting troupe into a major role in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and he frantically attempts to rehearse for an impending command performance before the King. Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2:00pm – from April 20 through 30 at the award-winning Bridge Street Theatre, 44 West Bridge Street in Catskill, NY. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit bridgest.org/rude-mechanics/. And the matinee performance on Sunday April 23 is “Pay What You Will”.
